"Energetic, engrossing, and often quite loving[...]It's Dorothy! succeeds mightily."
— Indiewire
Dorothy Gale is one of America's most iconic and enduring characters, having been consistently depicted in film, theater, and television for over a century. With such a constant presence in the public imaginary, Dorothy has naturally become a figure onto which individuals and communities can both see themselves reflected, and project their own desires to find their place in the world.
It's Dorothy! traces Dorothy's epic journey from the pages of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to her reinvention and evolution across generations. The film also weaves in biographical details on the life, career, and ally-ship of legendary actress Judy Garland. Featuring a star-studded cast of interviewees, including actresses tasked with following Garland over the years, It's Dorothy! is a celebration of culture's ability to engender community and belonging.
