Townsend Harris High School in Queens has made a tradition of holding mock presidential elections every 4 years for the past two decades. In 2016, like the real election it modeled, the tone and process reached a fever pitch. The Candidates documents the election (both real and fake), its effects on students, their evolving political perspectives, and a result that no one saw coming.
