"A magnetic 26-year-old mother of five compels attention and repels judgement in a rigorously realist snapshot of life in the Arctic tundra[...]An unadorned slice of extremely hard, extremely precarious life that is still somehow lived with a robust and unsentimental determination."

— Variety

Ivanna snd her five children has been living a traditional Nenets nomadic existence -- herding reindeer in the arctic wilderness of Russia. They live in a one-room shed, migrating her family on sleds with the herd and her community, while her husband Gena lives in a city, ostensibly to earn money for their family. However, climate change is causing reindeer herding to become untenable, and Gena's continued unemployment is forcing Ivanna to change her way of living in order to give her children the best life possible.

Life of Ivanna is an immersive portrait of life in one of the harshest environments on earth, and provides a snapshot of a traditional culture in existential crisis. A mainstay on the international film festival circuit, Life of Ivanna is sure to stay with viewers long after the credits roll.
